The North Carolina Department of Insurance
requires all firefighters to receive a minimum of 36 hours of training
per year. There are currently two levels of certification in the
Fire Service in North Carolina: Firefighter I and Firefighter II.
The firefighters at Tar Heel Fire Department are encouraged to become
certified at both levels.
